Half Moon Bay and Nearby Places to Go

It’s always amazing to take a road trip down the coast. Here are some great places and you journey along highway 1 and the hills close-by.

Moss Beach Distillery (Food) Some say this former speakeasy is haunted. It’s a great place to stop for a bite to eat while you view the crashing waves from their outdoor patio.

Jetway Distillery (Food) This distillery focuses on using locally sourced ingredients. They produce a range of high-quality, small-batch spirits. Visitors can enjoy tastings of their spirits and cocktails.

Apple Jack’s Bar (Food, La Honda) Bikers and tourists alike enjoy this unique “dive bar”. This is bar has a old soul locked in an old cabin.

Old Princeton Landing (Music) the live music here ranges from jazz, funk, soul, reggae and rock to indie rock and alternative music. You may get luck and see Neil Young perform.

Ritz Carlton (Misc) I generally am not listing fancy places like this but am making an exception. It’s great to have a glass of wine here while the bagpipers close down the golf course at dusk.

Sancez Adobe (Pacifica, History). Along with a restored Sanchez adobe residence from the mid 1800’s furnished with period pieces, the area also contains the archaeological evidence of the Mission Dolores Outpost.

Half Moon Bay Nursery (Unique Shopping) On the road from 280 to Half Moon Bay, this fantastic nursery is a wonderful nursery to buy plants and is one of the largest nurseries in California.

Mavericks (Outdoors, Sport) Mavericks Beach at Pillar Point near Half Moon Bay is the site of the annual big wave surfing competition.
